I was responsible for leading the communication, creative direction, and creation of the visual universe surrounding the exhibition match between Roger Federer and Nicolas Zverev in Bogotá, Colombia. Together with our team, we developed the communication, visual identity, social media, environments, and motion graphics for a match that became historic not only because it featured the world’s top-ranked tennis player, but also because of the events surrounding it: a public order situation forced the event to be cancelled just minutes before it was due to begin.

A Historic Duel in the Land of Champions

The victory of Colombians Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah at the 2019 Wimbledon Grand Slam brought Colombia to the top of the tennis world, sparking a kind of tennis fever across the country. Against this backdrop, IMLA Colombia, an event promotion and sports marketing company, invited world number one Roger Federer, considered by many to be the greatest player of all time, to face the young star of the moment, Nicolas Zverev, in the Colombian capital.

This gave rise to the concept “A Historic Duel in the Land of Champions” a line that served as inspiration for all communication pieces and the overall visual language of the event.
